Fall Fashion DON’TS

Before you realize, summer is over and fall is here. There is never enough time to transition your wardrobe, so you find yourself wearing your best Hawaiian-shirt on a rather cold, overcast day. But instead of stressing over what autumn fashions you need to have in your closet, it’s far easier to remember what you shouldn’t be wearing when the leaves start to fall.

DON’T Wear Bold, Boring Colors

Just because the sun is starting to come out less doesn’t mean color in your wardrobe has to follow suit. Fall is still too early to sport dull shades of black, gray, purple, green, etc. Instead, trade your bright yellows and blues of summer for light oranges and reds that reflect the season’s changing colors.

DON’T Resort to Sweatpants

While sweatpants will help keep you warm during declining temperatures, they definitely won’t make you look hotter. Fall calls for sturdier fashion pieces but not at the cost of looking good out in public. Opt for corduroy and khaki pants that are dark and warm. Fall is also a great time to wear dark jeans.

DON’T Pull out the Wool Yet

One of the most comfortable garments is a soft wool sweater, but don’t be too quick to take them out of winter storage. Yes, fall does get cold, but you don’t want to find yourself sweating in the hot sun while trying to drink a hot cup of cider. You’re better of wearing flannel shirts, fleece pullovers or windbreakers that can be easily taken off.
